AI Internal Operations Assistant
An internal operations assistant that enables healthcare staff to quickly retrieve approved SOPs, workflow guidance, and operational policies through Slack. It uses document retrieval, source referencing, and escalation logic to help teams access reliable information while reducing repetitive queries and dependence on senior staff.
The Problem
Healthcare teams often lose valuable time searching for SOPs or relying on experienced staff to answer recurring operational questions. This creates interruptions for managers, inconsistent guidance across shifts, and increased risk when staff are unsure how to handle procedures such as infection control, patient handovers, or emergency response.
How It Was Solved
I built a searchable internal operations assistant that connects staff to approved SOPs and operational documents through Slack. The system retrieves relevant information, references the source document, provides concise workflow guidance, and recommends escalation when the available documentation does not provide a sufficiently reliable answer.
Solution
The solution combines n8n, OpenAI, Google Drive, and Supabase Vector Store to create a central knowledge retrieval workflow with document-based responses and escalation logic. Staff get faster access to the information they need, while managers benefit from fewer repetitive interruptions, more consistent process execution, and reduced reliance on individual employees as the organisation's informal knowledge base.
